Welcome. I’m Susan David. The giving of money is a touchy subject. I believe there has been more controversy about the donation of money than just about anything.

When I first felt the leading to speak to you concerning the things of God, I spent some time researching other ministries. I already knew how many high profile ministries were judged for the perceived way, true or false, that they handled ministry donations. The media made sure we all knew the details. As I surfed the net I noticed many links with “Donate Now”. I don’t have a problem with that, by the way, it just didn’t feel right for me.

Other ministries state their need and ask for the money to support it. “Donate Now”. Well, doesn’t everyone know they need it now? Prayerfully, I asked the Holy Spirit why should people donate to this ministry you’ve called us to. And I felt He said, “First, ask “Why Donate”, then tell.” So, that’s why this link is in the form of a question and the following is the answer.

When I began analyzing other ministries, especially those being supported, I found a common thread in all of them. Each ministry was first giving and supporting. Many gave out of their treasure to feed and clothe the needy. Some, gave of their time and effort to uplift the down-trodden, while many shared words and Bible principles, messages inspired by God to those who are hungry for wisdom and to grow in grace. So, I said, “Lord, if these ministries are giving to meet the needs of others, then they’re giving out of their own need, unless they are rich to begin with.”

A pastor, for example, studies the word of God during the week, prays over it as he, or she goes, takes notes and compiles a message to be delivered on a particular day and hour, just for you. Hopefully, there is something in that message that touches a particular place and fills a void, answers a question or just lifts your spirit. The message strengthens you and carries you throughout the day, perhaps the entire week. Because of the transferring of those words from the pastor’s heart to yours, you are sustained. You are fed, so to speak.

The Lord gave me an illustration regarding giving. If I go to a restaurant, I’m going because I’m hungry. I have a physical void which needs to be filled. My stomach is empty and I’m feeling weak. I know from my past experience that after I eat my energy comes back, the weakness leaves and the void, now filled, leaves me feeling satisfied. After partaking of the restaurant’s food, do I just get up and leave? No. There’s this thing called a check that’s delivered to the table. The restaurant wants paid for the food I put into my body. It’s not free and it’s not my decision whether I pay it or just let the check sit and walk out. Friend, I’m full, I’m satisfied, why would I even think of not expressing my gratitude to pay for it? Did the restaurant have to pay for the food? Yes. Did they have to pay for the labor to cook the food? Yes. Did they pay for the building and chair where I sat? Yes. The list goes on.

The building your pastor speaks from, the furnishings, who pays for that? The heating and cooling, the office personnel, who pays for that? Friend, if you’re fed, spiritually filled from the efforts of your pastor’s message, bless him accordingly.

I have a question. Why is it that the donation basket is passed prior to the message rather than directly after delivering it? Probably because most pastors fear that people will be tempted to get up and file out once the sermon is over and that would cut deeply into their pocket book. But do you know when I’m most touched to give money in church or otherwise? When my heart is touched to do so. When I’m full spiritually. AFTER the pastor’s message, not before. When did more people donate to the Red Cross designated for disasters, before September 11th and Hurricane Katrina or after these events happened? As humans we tend to give and support in places where our heart tells us to, not our head or tradition.

I invite you to visit my message center page. Listen to a message, or two. See if in your heart God is speaking to you to support this broadcast. If he’s not speaking to you, you’ll know that, you’ll not be moved by my words. Not everyone is called to help us here. And if he IS speaking to you to help in some way, you’ll know that too. Trust yourself, that you’re able to discern these things.

You see, friend, when a pastor’s message has touched your heart or when tragedy falls and people are hurting, you feel something inside deep down in your heart where God resides. The glow that you’re feeling is the goodness inside you. It’s what caused you to reach deep down in your pocket and help others move forward in life. And that decision is yours. The decision to give or not to give is solely yours, friend. It’s not God’s decision or the pastor’s decision. God can anoint a speaker and he can move by His Spirit upon us, but the ultimate decision is yours and mine.

My goal is to present God’s word and let it be a vehicle of blessing in your life. As I bring God’s word to you each week, it will be the oil that heals many areas. Let the fruit of His Spirit go down deep and cause a new song in your heart. And as you are led by the Lord, I thank you in advance for your support of this ministry. I appreciate you visiting this important page.

I love you, Friend.
